Hyderabadi Hari Mirch ka Salan Recipe - Green Chili Recipe

Hyderabadi Hari Mirch ka Salan Recipe is a famous dish. It is a sour and spicy dish. It is also called achari heri mirch. The green Chili recipe can be used as a gravy with chapatti/flatbread. It enhances the flavor of dal chawl (a famous Pakistani Lentil and Rice).

The main ingredient is obviously green chilies. Therefore, a lot of various spices and dry nuts are used which increase the taste of the Hyderabadi heri mirch ka salan recipe.

Green Chili Recipe Ingredients


  • Green Chili ( heri mirch) 250 gram
  • Tamarind pulp ( Imli water) 1 cup
  • Onion 1 medium
  • Red whole Pepper 5- 6 pcs.
  • Salt 1 tsp + ¼ tsp
  • Turmeric ¼ tsp
  • Dry coriander 1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Poppy seeds (khuskhus) 2 tsp
  • Sesame (Til) seeds 2 tsp
  • Dry Coconut (nariyal) 2 tsp
  • Black cumin (kalonji) 1 tsp
  • Fenugreek (methi dana) 4- 5 pcs.
  • Ginger Garlic Paste 1 tbsp
  • Oil ½ cup


 How to  Make Sabz Mirch ka Salan Recipe. 


  • Wash green chilies well. Add salt and mix well. Set aside.
  • Take a pan and add oil to it. Now fry green chilies for 3- 4 minutes.
  • Add red whole pepper, fenugreek, and cumin seeds in oil. Mix well and add onion, and fry for 3- 4 minutes or until it changes color.
  • Add ginger garlic paste dry coriander, salt, sesame, poppy seeds, black cumin, dry coconut, and turmeric. Mix well and now add fried green chilies.
  • Add tamarind pulp and cook for ten minutes or until water dries and oil looks on the surface.
  • Green chili gravy is ready.
  • Serve it with dal chawl or with roti.
